Create New, Edit or delete IFC Attribute Configuration

Recommend reading IFC Attribute Configurations before moving forward.

 

To create a new or edit an existing Attribute Configuration, open the configuration editor by selecting the "Edit" button next to the type of Configuration you would like to work on (refer to below).

Note: Project Administrator Rights is required to edit, delete, or create new configuration

  1. Select “Attribute configuration in the ribbon menu under the “BIM” tab. Window will appear:

  1. Select “Edit” beside the configuration that should be edited.

The following window will appear for (for e.g.) Room <-> IFC Room configuration:

  1. Select configuration in the drop-down-menu or create new

    • Create a new configuration by clicking on either "New" or (to create a new configuration based on the currently selected configuration) "Copy".

    • To delete an existing configuration, select the configuration within the "Choose Configuration" drop-down menu, then click on "Delete".

    • To rename an existing configuration, select the configuration within the "Choose Configuration" drop-down menu, then click on "Rename". 

    • Set "Configuration properties":

      • Available to users: If this is checked all Users can see / use this configuration. If it is not checked, only those Users who have Project Administrator Rights can view / use this configuration.

      • Is default configuration: If this is checked, it means that this configuration will be the default configuration for all Users.

        In addition, General Users can setup User-based default configurations for each configuration type within the Attribute Configuration Settings dialog, so that henceforth an alternate configuration will override as the default configuration for each configuration type for that particular User.

Note that the configuration named "Default" cannot be edited, deleted or renamed, but you can create your own version of this by selecting it and clicking on "Copy".

Link attributes

  1. Select the dRofus Attributes that you would synchronize data to / from (which have not already been mapped within the current configuration).

  2. Select the IFC attribute that you would synchronize data to / from (which have not already been mapped within the current configuration).

Common for both lists of attributes is that if the Attribute or Parameter is in half tone, it means that it is a read-only and therefore can only be used to synchronize data from and not to.

  1. Select:

    • [Link ←] to import data from the IFC-file to dRofus

    • [Link == ] to select as Key attribute used for comparing.

    • [Link -->] to import data to the IFC

    • [New -->] to create new attribute in the IFC and import data to the IFC read more in the section “create new attribute in IFC” bellow

  2. All the mapped dRofus Attributes <-> IFC Parameters within the current configuration would be listed.

 

Remove a mapping: 

  1. Select a mapping within the list of linked Attributes / Parameters

  2. Select "Unlink".

Create new attributes in IFC

Data can be sent from dRofus to the IFC file even if the corresponding attribute is not available in the IFC file. Select a dRofus property on the top-left section and select New--> as action. A new window will appear where the Property set name and Property name for the new property in IFC can be defined.

Creating new properties in IFC is available for following IFC configurations;

  • Room <-> IFC Room

  • System <-> IFC System

  • Occurrences ↔ IFC Occurrence
