Subs as Properties - set up

To make the process of connecting sub items to main items easier, you can create the sub items as options in Sub Items can be added as a drop-down menu for the itemItem. This is what we call "Subs as properties". The drop-down lists must be defined by a dRofus administrator from Administration-> Settings-> Items-> Sub item categories. The first part of this chapter will be directed towards superusers that can create drop-down menus available for use on items.

Let's first look at a simple example. We want to attach fabrics to a chair. We want the different fabrics to appear as options in a drop-down menu that we can set on an existing chair item. The first step is to create a Sub item category:

Subs as Properties for items

...

The rules are as follows:

  1. All occurrences of the item that have the same value in the subs as properties category as the item will follow the changes made to that subs as properties category in the item.

  2. All occurrences that has a different value than the item they relates to, will keep their unique/derived values when changes are made to that subs as properties category in the item.

NOTE! If you want to clear the value on the item but keep the values for all occurrences with unique/derived values, select the empty line in the dropdown-list (see image 1 below) and do NOT use the “delete value” button (see image 2 below) since the later option will delete the values for all occurrences, also those with unique/derived values.
