Link Placed or New Revit Rooms to Created dRofus Rooms or Room Templates

When you place Rooms / have Rooms already placed in the Revit model, but you do not have the corresponding Room(s) in dRofus, you can have these Rooms created as well as linked in dRofus using the Plug In.

For Already Placed Revit Rooms:

You will need to use the 'Link to dRofus' option:

  • Select a Revit Room in the model
  • Click on 'Link to dRofus'
  • Select the tab "Room"
  • Browse within the Room Function Structure within dRofus (left-hand panel) where you would like to create the new Room + connect your Revit Room to, then select "Create New":

For New Revit Rooms:

You will need to ensure that "Start tracking" has been activated:

  • Place the new Revit Room within the model
  • Following dialog window will pop up
  • Select the tab "Room"
  • Browse within the Room Function Structure within dRofus (left-hand panel) where you would like to create the new Room + connect your Revit Room to, then select "Create New":

Note that you will need to get to the bottom tier of the defined Function Structure, then only the "Create New" button will be made available. In other words (in the above example), you would not be able to create your new Room at the level called "LEVEL 9".

Once you have linked a Room, dRofus will update the Revit Room with data from dRofus and vice versa. The data to be updated will depend on the active Room Attribute Configuration.

You can keep the link window open while you select the next Room.

If the active Room Attribute Configuration has been mapped with dRofus' "Room Name" --> Revit's "Name" AND the "Disable edit room names" within dRofus Client is checked by the Project Administrator - AND because this will be overridden automatically to go the other way - an error message saying "Changing the list of predefined Room Names is not allowed" will appear, and the "Room Name"s of the new Rooms created in dRofus will be blank and "Name"s of the Rooms within the model will be blanked out.
If the active Room Attribute Configuration has been mapped with Revit's "Name" --> dRofus' "Room Name" AND the "Disable edit room names" within dRofus Client is checked by the Project Administrator - an error message saying "Changing the list of predefined Room Names is not allowed" will appear, and the "Room Name"s of the new Rooms created in dRofus will be blank and "Name"s of the Rooms within the model will remain unchanged.
If the active Room Attribute Configuration has no mapping of Names between dRofus and Revit AND the "Disable edit room names" within dRofus Client is checked by the Project Administrator - an error message saying "Changing the list of predefined Room Names is not allowed" will appear, and the Room Names of the new Rooms created in dRofus will be blank and Names of the Rooms within the model will remain unchanged.

Within the link window, if you right-click anywhere in the list and select Add / remove columns, you can select which columns to display in the window. Any Room Properties, System or Room Data attribute can be displayed:
