There are four key steps to start working with your data in dRofus and Revit:

  1. Set up Synchronize Option

  2. Link Spaces to Rooms

  3. Link Revit Familie Types to Items in dRofus

  4. Synchronize Revit Instance with dRofus Occurrence

For those or you that are not using the Revit add-on, the same import of systems and components from IFC or Excel.

Step 1: Set up the Attribute Configuration

1. Set up the Attribute Configuration

Establish Attribute Configuration to determine which data is exchanged between Revit and dRofus.

  1. Room and Space configuration determine which Room data are exchanged and included in your Space properties. Read more about setup and Space usage:

  2. Family Type and Instance configuration determine which Family Type and Instance data are exchanged with dRofus Item and Occurrence /Component data

  3. Revit Systems and Revit System Types are used to synchronize

Read more about set up: Revit Attribute Configurations

2. Link dRofus System with Revit System Type or Revit System Name

Revit have two levels of Systems for Mechanical and Piping Systems, (1) Revit System Types , (2) Revit System Name.

You have the flexibility to switch between the levels you want to synchronize with. However, to achieve optimal control, we advise you to select and use only one level for synchronization.

3. Save and set default Model Option

It is several option that can be selected before you synchronize. As a Admin user you are able to save and set the options as default. Read more Model Options.

Step 2: Revit Spaces

This step is not required but will give you more options.

Item overview and validation

As an Engineer you can create and / or update Spaces within your model to correspond with the Rooms in the Architectural (linked) model. Revit Spaces gives you the opportunity to see and validate Item occurrences, and Family Types Spaces using either:

  • "Items in Room"

  • "Items in level/model (spaces)" Panel.

Create or Update Revit Spaces from Linked Revit Model (new)

Step 3: Link Revit Family Type with dRofus Items

Step 4: Synchronize Revit Instance with dRofus Occurrence

When you have access as a user to Systems in a database you can also use the functions for Systems in the dRofus Revit Plug-in.

Systems dialog will give you;

  • Overview of all unlinked Systems in dRofus

  • Overview of all unlinked Systsms in Revit

  • Possibility to link/unlink Systems,

  • Possibility to create Systems in dRofus based on Revit Systems.
