You List of Items can be import and update a list of Items to dRofus in the same way as you import Rooms. This may be useful when there are many Items to be imported. using Excel import. Read more about how to import: Introduction: Import/update with Excel-file

Importing

The Excel spreadsheet requires specific columns of values for dRofus to import the Items correctly into the Item structure . The Numbers and Names of the Main Levels and Sub Levels must be entered in separate columns (as for rooms, ref. Chapter 18.1), followed by any other item specific data for import. To display the fields which can be imported from Excel, go to dRofus->Import/update->Import Item. Follow the same procedure as for Rooms by mapping the Fields you want to include in the import to the Columns in the Excel spreadsheet.

If the box beside "Item Number" is left blank (refer highlighted above), dRofus will automatically number the imported Items, based upon the position of the row for each Item within the Excel spreadsheet as well as the Level / Sub Level numbers. It is , however possible to nominate specific values against this field while importing Items, as long as the numbering takes in to consideration the number of the Levels / Sub Levels and that each value assigned to Item Number is unique.Click the Specification button to import Item specification fields. This will open a dialogue box with all defined Item specification fields and you can choose which fields you would like to import. The Program tries automatically to match column name to Item specification fields. This will succeed if the column name is written in the same way as in the column 'Excel label' in the dialogue window.

Updating Items from MS-Excel

Using the same menu Item information can be updated from Excel. To view the fields which can be updated, go to dRofus->Import/update->Update Item. First, generate a list of Item by searching in the Item register, or by selecting a main level or sub-level. You use the * wildcard in the quick search function then press Enter to generate a list of Item. If you want to include several fields in the export, right-click in the room list and select Add/Remove columns. Select the fields you want to see and click OK. Once you are satisfied with the display in the Item register, select a line in the list and export to Excel by pressing Ctrl+E. You can now make changes to the fields in question, save the document and update it by using the Update Item function.

Decide either to use the Item Number, Item Name, BIM-id, or Reference as an identifier to find a Item in dRofus.

You update Item specification fields in the same way as for import of Item (ref. Import Finishes to Rooms from MS Excel).

To import Item specification fields press the Specification button. A dialogue with all defined fields will then appear and you can choose which fields you want to import. The program tries to automatically match the column names to AS fields. This will work if the column name is similar to the text shown in the column called 'Excel label' in the dialogue window.
