An "Item" represents a general object that has customized requirements and specifications defined by the user, which outline its functional needs and characteristics.

Ribbon Options for Products

Both the Company module and the Items Module allow the creation of Products. The ribbon section displayed below is utilized to manage Products.

Open Product:

Opens a panel to edit the properties of an already defined Product that has been selected in the Products panel. (Note that any property values that were associated with the original Item are also associated with the Product assigned to that Item.)

Create new Product:

From the company module a product can be created as a stand-alone product until it is associated with an item. From the Item module an Item or Occurrence has to be selected to be able to create a Product.

  1. Select Item or Occurrence of the Item (only from the Item module)

  2. Select “New Product” within the Ribbon menu that opens a window

Copies the selected Products (shown in the Products Panel) to a selected Item or Items. In the Company module, copying a product that has yet to be assigned an item simply copies that product. 

  1. Select "Copy Product" from the Product Ribbon or right-click on the Product inside of the Products Panel and select "Copy Product". A window will appear listing the Items available to copy the Product to.

  2. Select an item

  3. Select “OK”

The copied Product will appear in the Selected Item's Product Panel. This process creates a new product. 

Delete Product:

Deletes the Product selected in the Product Panel. Read chapter 10.3 for how to add panels to the user interface.

Add Images: 

Adds selectable image(s) to the selected product.

Add documents: 

Upload a Document relevant to the Product.

Link to documents:

If the Documents are already uploaded via the Documents Module the document can associate selected uploaded Documents to the Product. This can help to reduce the duplication of documents stored in the database.

Attach Items and occurrences to products

Set Default product for an Item

It is possible to set one of the attached products as default.

1. Select an item

2. Navigate to the properties pane

3. Select which of the attached products that should be set as default:

The selected product can be assigned to existing and future occurrences of the Item. When you specify a default product you will have three options;

  • All: Assigns default product to all Occurrences including the ones that have a Product assigned already

  • All with no product: Assign the product to all Occurrences that have no Product assigned.

  • None: Do not assign the Product to any Occurrences

It is important to note: When a new product is created and it's the first time a product is defined for that Item, it will be set as the default product in all cases regardless if the user sets the product on Occurrences. It is also true that when a product is first associated to an item from the Company module it will also be set as default for the item and the associated occurrences.

Product Overview

Product Data can be viewed for Occurrences by right-clicking on an Occurrence and select Add/remove columns. Choose the fields under the heading Product.

Product Panel

To get an overview of products that are created for the items you can add the Product Panel to the user interface. The Product Panel is available in the Views tab. The Product Panel will display all available Products for the selected Item(s), Occurrence(s) or the Item Group you have selected. e.g. if you want to see all Products that are created within an entire Item Group you can select the Item Group in the Navigation Panel and see all Products for all Items in that Item Group;

Importing Products

If you already have a schedule of Products and/or Product information or you would like to import additional data to Products it is possible to import a schedule via the Import/Export Menu Option in the Items Module.

When importing you will be required to provide either Item Number or Item Name or BIM ID to indicate which Items the imported Products are to be associated with. When importing/updating a product there is an additional option to set the product to default on the items associated to them. Checking this option will automatically assign the product as default and the associated occurrences.
